Valetta Film Festival - Opening Ceremony 2019


      Valetta Film Festival is the annual event taking place in the capital of the Malta, Valetta. This year, the long-awaited Festival is opening on the 14th of June, literally next Friday and that means, that in less than 10 days both guests of the Maltese islands and the citizens would be able to participate in perhaps one of the most important events of the upcoming festival: Opening Night.
      This year's opening ceremony is expected to surpass the splendor of the previous year, introducing the one and only Mark Jibberson (temp name) as a master of ceremony, to go through the official part of the opening and introduce guests of the festival to the amazing cavalcade of movies that have not been shown to the broad audience to this day and that will keep even the most durable occupied for the period of ten eventful days.




     Join the ceremony in the majestic historical cite of PjazzaTeatru Rjal, formerly known as Royal Opera Theater, one of the most renown cultural heritage cites on the Maltese islands. If you don't yet have a pass, that you could purchase on the website of the event, worry not, for the event tickets will be available until the last moments, but keep in mind: the seats are limited so don't wait long - buy a ticket for the opening ceremony or the pass for the whole event, to see all the assortment of movies available to the faithful guests of the festival. The ticket office is right on the left of car exhibition on the photo to your left, under the small arc.


     As the clock strikes 19:30, guests of the festival will be welcomed to ascend the red carpet stairs and take a photo near the real step-and-repeat Hollywoodesque banner. Certainly a thing to brag about to your friends, especially if you would be lucky to snap a picture with one of the famous guests of the festival, including, but not limited to the directors and actors of the movies presented during the festival.
     But don't get too excited just yet, as there is more to come.

    As you would be waiting for the guests to gather at the performance venue, feel free to have a real taste of Malta with an assortment of aperitifs and beverages provided by the local company Farsons, Maltese food and beverages conglomerate. 
     Prepare to be surprised by the varieties of the tastes that you would meet with the beverages made with the traditional recipes from as far as 1928, but try to keep yourself in check, for when the guests gather, the Opening Ceremony will finally commence.



    After a few words of greetings from our lovely host, Mark Jibberson (temp name), the already famous in the festival circles tragicomedy "Aurora" written by the Finnish director Miia Tervo, will be the opening picture of the Valetta Film Festival 2019. Despite being a recent picture, Aurora has already been nominated for the Dragon Awards and have received extremely positive reactions on it's first screening during the film festival in Finland. Audience entertainment is guaranteed!





    After the screening, guests are encouraged to move to the Hastings Gardens, a majestic garden located on top of the St. John's Bastion for the afterparty. This once in a lifetime opportunity will allow you to talk with the famous guests of the festival in the informal environment and ask them questions about their work. Pair that with the live music from the invited band and open bar to create an unforgettable event in the carefree and friendly atmosphere of the night Valetta. Just don't forget that there's another ticket for the afterparty! (available in the same ticket office for all willing).



    Starting with next day, June 15th, the fifth annual Valetta Film Festival will start to gain momentum, as more and more movies will be available for the audience on the daily basis.
